STEM Designation

STEM at STVM: Faith Meets Innovation
As Ohio’s only Catholic STEM-designated high school, St. Vincent-St. Mary (STVM) combines the best of Catholic education with cutting-edge innovation. Rooted in our Marianist values, we prepare students to think critically, solve real-world problems, and lead with purpose.

A New Vision of STEM

At STVM, STEM isn’t limited to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math—it’s a school-wide mindset. We integrate Entrepreneurial Thinking, Design Thinking, and Problem-Based Learning across every subject. Students learn by doing—collaborating with faculty and community partners to tackle authentic, real-world challenges.

Hands-On Programs & Partnerships

Our students explore and excel through unique, nationally recognized opportunities including FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics, the NASA Student Launch Challenge, the NASA Microgravity Research Team (by NASA selection), the University of Akron STEM Research Program, and our award-winning science and rocket teams. These experiences give students the skills and confidence to thrive in college and beyond.

Best-in-Class STEM Facilities

Our campus features dynamic spaces designed for creativity and exploration: the Center for Science and Technology, an outdoor garden and greenhouse, and a Maker Space for prototyping and design. STVM students present their innovations at prestigious competitions like NEOSEF and ISEF, often collaborating with experts locally and around the globe.

Faith. Knowledge. Innovation.
At STVM, we honor our Catholic tradition while preparing students to shape the future. Our STEM program is more than a designation—it’s a commitment to excellence in authentic, innovative, best-practice teaching and learning.
