  • Welcome to the STVM Counseling Department!

The Counseling Department at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School is committed to meeting the unique intellectual, physical, social, and emotional needs of each student. We have a dedicated team of 5 licensed school counselors that have many years of experience in this field.
Our two full-time school counselors are Mrs. Boarman and Mrs. Hovey. We also have a part-time counslor, Miss Arica Zimmer. Our school counselors each have two grade levels that they work with, and they rotate each year so that they have the same class for four years. The school counselors will conduct a Freshman Parent Night, Sophomore Parent Night, and additional parent nights as needed. They will also coordinate an annual College Fair and Career Fair.

We also have two part time college counselors, Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Foushee. Our college counselors split the alphabet, and they will start meeting with students individually their junior year and in classroom lessons to help them navigate the college process. They will conduct a Junior Parent Night, College Credit Plus Parent Night, and Senior/FAFSA Parent Night.

In addition, STVM has a partnership with Minority Behavioral Health Group. Mrs. Shaw and Mr. McWain will provide case management services and Mr. Anderson will provide therapy services for our students. The counseling department will work closely with these professionals to ensure that every student at STVM is successful.

The counseling department will also facilitate the PSAT, ACT, Iowa, and AP testing.
