Spirit Shop & Bookstore Manager

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Bookstore Manager is energetic, passionate, and well-organized, managing the St. Vincent-St. Mary bookstore products and services while enhancing the STVM brand and providing a significant revenue stream for the school. The manager is responsible for the operation of both the physical and online stores. This role includes managing and purchasing inventory, merchandising, and budgeting while maintaining accurate records associated with cash, inventories, and end-of-month reporting. The Bookstore Manager is responsible for the store’s sales and marketing. This is a part-time role for 25-30 hours per week, primarily daytime hours with occasional evenings. It is a 12-month position.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Develop a group of student volunteers to help cover open store hours, sporting events, and other campus events.
  • Purchase all store inventory, keeping product fresh and staging new items as older inventory sells.
  • Generate reports to analyze sales trends and anticipate customer needs.
  • Prepare end-of-month financial and inventory reports.
  • Stay current on industry trends to maximize sales.
  • Maintain an appealing, clean, and organized sales floor.
  • Reorganize bookstore layout and make changes as needed.
  • Maintain accurate sales and inventory records.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Build effective relationships with coworkers, students, parents, alumni, vendors, and customers.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving, decision-making, and financial analysis skills.
  • Conceptualize and drive innovative solutions to business challenges.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of cash and manage currency needs.
  • Oversee point of sale and mobile payment operations.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Communication to develop advertising and communication content.
  • Complete quarterly physical inventory counts.
  • Collaborate with other departments for special project needs and events.
  • Assist in rotating front desk coverage as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Working knowledge of point of sale systems.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and standing.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
