Substitute School Van Driver

NOTE: This Position Is Part-Time As Needed.

Primary Purpose: We are looking for Substitute School Van Driver to join our team to transport students to and from school, and extracurricular events following scheduled routes, while ensuring student safety, and timely arrival at destinations. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to ensure that the school vehicle is in good shape and observe safety and traffic rules while on the road with students.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Attentiveness to traffic and weather conditions ensuring passenger safety.
  • Transport children and other passengers to and from school and school sanctioned events.
  • Obey all traffic laws to ensure students arrive to their destination safely.
  • Ensure the safety of all students when entering and leaving the bus.
  • Assist students with getting on and off the van as needed.
  • Engage with students as they enter and leave the van.
  • Professional interactions with students, parents or guardians, and school faculty and staff.
  • Regularly checking vehicle safety such as tires, brakes, turn signals and mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain a clean vehicle and be attentive to mechanical issues that require attention.
  • Available to transport students to after school events.
Qualifications:
  • Current Valid CDL.
  • Must be of legal age, 2 years driving experience.
  • Must be able to pass T-8 Physical.
  • Must pass a BCI / FBI background check.
  • Motor Vehicle Records Check.
  • Proven work experience as a School Van Driver or similar role.
  • Clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the last five years.
  • Two or more years of experience working with children preferred.
  • Ability to carry out assigned route on time.
