Mu Alpha Theta
Mu Alpha Theta is a national mathematics honorary for high school and junior college mathematics students. It is sponsored by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Mathematical Association of America.
The purpose of this organization is to instill a greater interest in mathematics by promoting recreational, academic and project programs. Chartered in 1972, our chapter of ΜΑΘ here at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School is an active honorary. Along with its monthly meetings, Mu Alpha Theta is involved in many educational and service activities.
The minimum requirements for sophomores seeking membership in ΜΑΘ are that the student must
- Be presently enrolled in Honors Math II or a higher level mathematics course.
- Have a 3.3 grade average in mathematics.
- Have a 3.0 accumulative GPA.
- Be planning to enroll in college preparatory mathematics in his/her junior year.
The minimum requirements for juniors seeking membership in ΜΑΘ are that the student must
- Have a 3.0 grade point average in mathematics.
- Have a 3.0 accumulative GPA.
- Be presently enrolled in their third year of college preparatory mathematics.
- Be planning to enroll in college preparatory mathematics in his/her senior year.
The minimum requirements for seniors seeking membership in ΜΑΘ are that the student must
- Have a 3.0 grade point average in mathematics.
- Have a 3.0 accumulative GPA.
Be in at least the third year of college preparatory mathematics.
